Got Questions?

We have answered below the questions that we are asked most often. If you cannot find the answer you are looking for, please get in touch and we will do our best to help you.

1How do we claim our child's government funding?

By completing a funding agreement form that we provide. Sessions need to be agreed on a termly basis and you can claim up to 15 hours per week – term time. Your child can attend more than 15 hours a week but these will be charged for at our standard hourly rate.

As of September 2017, children of working parents in Cambridgeshire may be entitled to 30 hours of free childcare per term time week.

2When does government funding become available?

Currently Early years funding is available the term after your child reaches 3 years of age. However your child may also be eligible for funding from 2 years.

3What is the cost of a session if it is not funded?

Additional sessions are charged at our standard hourly rate. To find out our current rate, please use our Contact Us page to get in touch with Hannah Underwood, or speak to her at Preschool.

4How can we get extra Lunch Sessions?

All lunch sessions need to be pre-booked. Talk to Hannah or Jeanette who will be able to advise if/when this will be possible. You can talk to them at Preschool or please see Contact Us for telephone or email options.

5How can we support our child's learning at home?

Each child has a key worker who:

  • Builds a positive relationship with you and your child so you both feel secure about the time your child spends at Preschool
  • Observes your child and ensures the care and learning opportunities provided meet their individual needs, supporting and extending their development.
  • Records evidence of the child’s development including keeping examples of their work or photographs of them at play.  This is to ensure that all children experience a balanced range of activities
  • Keeps you regularly informed about your child’s progress – any information you can provide about your child’s interests, achievements and development at home will help with this.

Parents have opportunities to help support their child when they receive their child’s next steps each term. Parents are very welcome to talk to their child’s key worker at any time regarding their child’s progress.
